What's The Next 'BIG' Thing on the Internet?
By Chris Lee
A member asked me recently:
"What kind of projects are you working on right now? In other words, what do you think is the 'next big thing' on the
Internet?"
I don't mind revealing the projects I'm working on... but obviously some 'details' are left out until they are
finalized.
Also, I don't have a 'crystal ball' - but since I live, eat and breath what happens online I do have a pretty good
feel for where trends are headed.
But, I thought you might be interested in my answer to this subscriber's question so I'm going to repeat it below for
you.
Ok? Here goes:
Projects I'm currently investing time, energy and money on:
Blogs:: Blogs fascinate me. Are they what the Internet was supposed to be: A personal publishing machine/network? I
don't know, but they are interesting. Allan Says started a blog at http://www.secretwisdom.com and Jason Cain has
produced an excellent ebook on making money with blogging and blogs at, http://www.webfindz.com/goldblog.html
(BTW- Jim Nech, a nice guy and InfoProductLab member has a testimonial on Jason's sales page. Take time to visit Jim's
site- http://affiliate-facts.com and get his free report :)
The question I'm working on: Is there MONEY to be made in 'blogging'... from what I've seen so far, there is, BUT you
need to have an extremely tight focus and without giving away too many of the secrets Jason reveals in http://www.
webfindz.com/goldblog.html there are many ways to profit - many that I never would have thought of.
Another resource you should check out is Dr. Mani Sivasubramanian's BlogProfits : "33 Quick Tips To Make Money From
Your Blog". I highly recommend both resources.
My project and my own interest is in creating a blog for increasing my publishing profits as well as producing a
report on the subject of making* mon*ey with blogs. My brother is 'blog crazy' and we had a long discussion about it
over the weekend.
I'm almost ready to take the plunge myself for one reason: The directories that list blogs are incredibly EASY to get
into at this point. There's even a 'search engine' that does nothing but 'index' blogs and so the chances of getting
found are very, very good. What that means is that if you have a niche 'focus' for your blog you could be getting
traffic to it in as little as a day or two! How easy was it to get indexed by Google in 1996-1998?? - pretty easy.
That's how it is now with getting your blog indexed... if you start now - 12 months from now, it may be too late.
Another reason to blog: People are 'crazy' over reading blogs. I forgot now where I read this but it said: there are
more blog readers than there are blogs!
In addition to the above: I firmly believe that 'email' as a form of marketing may be permanently harmed by spam, spam
filters and ISP's who are blocking a lot of legitimate email that they incorrectly identify as spam.
Most blogging software now allows you to automatically notify your readers when a new post was created using xml...
this may be the only why to market effectively on the Internet in the future. Finding a business model using blogging
is my #1 project right now.
Website Traffic:: Finding the 'holy grail' of the Internet-focused, targeted traffic! I've tried everything you can
think of and my traffic has steadily grown over the years, but it has not been due to 'tricks' or many of the traffic
'gadgets' I've seen being sold on the Internet.
My basic traffic methods are pretty simple and boring: Word of mouth, being visible on major discussion boards and
trying to be helpful to everyone who emails me with a question.
My own SEO methods are almost non-existant. I decided a long time ago I would not chase the search engines because
they constantly change the rules of the game. But... I am trying out something that is very, very sexy... it may be
exactly the 'holy grail' of traffic I've been looking for, http://www.marketingcheats.com e.html
I'm testing the program now and I have a few ideas how it could be used much more effectively. One test I'm conducting
is to use this program to create feeder sites to my own sites... another is to generate high quality, targeted
reciprocal link sites that DO get indexed by Google. Please note: This is NOT a program for novices. If you don't
know anything about Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques, do some reading up first: http://www.marketingcheats.
com e.html
eBay :: A centralized market with millions of registered users! I got my start on the Internet selling on ebaY. First
I sold rare books, then I sold entire websites...
The sale of 'websites' on ebay has hit an all-time low. At one time I could have sold an orginal developed (not a
template) site for $500-$1,000. Although they took a long time to make, a sale is a sale... I couldn't get those
kinds of prices anymore.
Where are the hot markets on ebay now? There are actually a lot of them, but not one's I'm interetsed in pursuing.
ebaY is a very tough market for information publishers. Ebooks are selling for peanuts. Entire websites are selling
for $20!
I still use it for generating leads, which is probably the best way to use ebaY right now for info-publishers, but
another InfoLab member has found a very interesting way to use ebaY (among other lead generating systems) to create a
dynamic viral backend money making system that made him a 'extra' $46,538 last year, http://www.strongmarket.com/
viral.html
I think this is VERY smart... use ebay for lead generation and create multiple backend sales.
My ebaY 'project' (if you can call it that) for is to create 'keyword' rich listings that get found by the 'right'
prospects who then bid on simple CD-rom or DVD products I create. Nothing fancy, just solid products with a niche
focus.

When to NOT hire a SEO and why
By Zoran Makrevski
When you get an e-mail from SEO Company with content similar to this:
"We submit your site on X00.000 search engines and directories…"
Stay far away from companies which offer you to submit your site on thousands of directories and search engines.
Why?
What they do is: they use submission software and advanced scripts and they submit your site to different guest books,
local search engines, search engines in other languages, post your URL in comments in different Blogs, FFA etc…You
will not have any benefit from this.
FFA stands for Free For All, pages which are designed to carry a designated amount of links on each page. Have in mind
that when comes to link popularity relevancy counts and links form this pages will not going to help you much. Add to
this that FFA pages have very limited life span, you will get the picture.
When some SEO company claims that they can guarantee #1 on Google
Why?
No one can guarantee #1 on any Search Engine! (Except the owner of course)
I can guarantee you first place in the search results in my Greek Business Directory (http://www.goto.gr>Greek), since
I am the owner, but there is no chance that ethical and honest SEO company will give you such a guarantee in real life.
Even the biggest companies in SEO industry do not give such a guarantee. There are companies who claim that if they
don’t achieve specific number of top 10 positions, you get your money back. Take even this with great caution, and be
sure to read their guarantee 2 times, including the small letters on the bottom (if there are any). Many of them will
attempt to propose you non competitive phrases, which will give you no traffic and therefore you will have no benefit
from this.
When SEO Company offers you to get paid on base on delivered traffic
(Though THEIR domain)
Why?
Many SEO Companies offer to the prospective client’s deals on base on delivered traffic. This traffic to be measured
easily, they propose new domain, or sub domain to be created, optimized and to deliver traffic though this domain. Be
sure to ask which property will be that domain or sub domain.
If SEO Company told you that domain will be their property, your site will not be optimized. Here is what will follow:
SEO Company will register domain name on THEIR name, and will optimize that domain for your keywords. They will
redirect all traffic from that domain to your site.
You will be forced to pay monthly maintenance to that company and if you decide to stop their services, they will
redirect their traffic to some other company in same industry. Keywords which worked well for you, will work well for
your competitors too.
Fair and honest company might offer similar deal because of many reasons, but the domain from which the visitors will
come will be YOURS, so if you want to change SEO Company, you will have the traffic directed to your site until the
new company takes over, and your investment (optimized domain and the traffic) will remain your property.
In case that SEO Company doesn’t want to disclose the techniques which will use to rank high your website.
Why?
Legal and ethical SEO Company will give you very clear idea what they intent to do with your site, and will give you
detailed plan of activities. You have to know that some SEO Companies use techniques forbidden by search engines and
your site may get banned from the search engines because of this.
For example if your SEO company use thousands automatically created so called doorway pages, which are full of your
keywords only and are useless to the visitors, your site might get banned because of this.
So be sure to ask your SEO Company what they intent to do, and which techniques they plan to use. Good SEO Company is
always ready to educate their client to some level.
When SEO Company claim that you will see the results within 1 months
Why?
In this case, don’t walk away. Run!
If your site is brand new, it might take up to 3 months to get listed on major search engines. To get some results
even in less competitive results, you should count that 4-6 months is the timeframe where you can expect to see first
results. Note that if your website has 5-10 pages only, you will need much more content that this. SEO Company will
have to add much new pages to your site, and that is time consuming task.
So, if the SEO Company claims that you will be on the top within a month, they have PPC (Pay per Click) in their mind,
and that have nothing with Search Engine Optimization.

How To Conceal Your Website's "Fingerprint" From The Search Engines
by

Satyajeet Hattangadi
The internet marketing industry is now flooded with various page and portal generators. In the good old days the gateway page generators did very well, earning a lot of money for many people. Then the search engines began to crack down on robot-generated pages, a trend which has led to the demise of such tools. But how is it that the search engines are able to track down these sites so fast?Well, its not rocket science. Believe me, even you could track down a site within minutes if you knew how to find its fingerprint.A fingerprint for a site is usually a piece of text or a paragraph or at times a particular CSS style that the software repeats for all the sites it generates. In fact that's why I always advise customers of my portal generation software Niche Portal Builder (http://www.novasoft-inc.net) to modify the default templates. If you use such software with the default templates provided and don't modify the HTML, you can be sure that hundreds of others are doing the same thing. All it takes is one jealous competitor to complain to Google. And, Bam.. your site gets banned.Modifying the templates to create a unique site is definitely one way to go, but there are several others ways to make your site unique.RSS is a great way to make your site "unfingerprintable".But most RSS scripts available in the market today just display the feed content as is without modifying it.The ideal way to use RSS feeds in a truly "unprintable" fashion would be to aggregate more than one RSS feed and display them randomly.By aggregating and randomizing several feeds you can guarantee that your content will be unique.PPC feeds from Amazon, Revenue Pilot and Search feed can add extra content to your sites that make it unique, and earn a few dollars for you at the same time. All the three PPC sites listed above provide their feeds in XML format and also provide sample PHP code that can convert this into regular HTML.If you use page generators to create your websites, use them responsibly to ensure the "longevity" of your websites. And if you use RSS feeds on your site, remember to "randomize" them to conceal your site's fingerprint from the search engines.

Who needs T.V. News, Newspapers and Radio News?
By Jesse S. Somer
T.V. and radio News got you down? On-line current events and News blogs make being informed a much more enjoyable
experience. For many the News on television has become a trying time of the day. Focused mainly on negative events,
you may have to wait through the whole program just to hear the one story you were waiting for. If you miss the 6:00
p.m. show, waiting until the late night segment can be a real drag, especially if you’ve got a lot to do, or have to
wake up early the next morning.
My friends, there is an answer to this problem: News blogs or on-line current events. You can find all of your
favorite broadcasters (E.g.: CNN, BBC) on the Internet, getting up-to-date information at any time of the day or
night. You can even read personal journal entries written by multiple correspondents out in the field reporting on
several different stories down to the current minute. Instead of hearing all News from one voice (often an irritating
one), now you can read different human opinions straight from the scene of interest.
Often News on-line has a section called "themes" which allows the reader to only hear about the specific areas that
interest them. No more waiting through several wars to get to the positive story about the current medical
breakthrough that could mean a cure for disease, or the technological idea that might mean the end to extreme
pollution levels. Like a newspaper, you can go straight to the "jobs" theme and search through all the current
employment vacancies available. If you are obsessed with the negative, themes such as "Disaster and Tragedy" and
"Crime and Punishment are still readily accessible.
As the News is now on the Internet it has also become an interactive experience in numerous ways. First of all now you
can send News stories straight to the News companies yourself! If the story is deemed worthwhile and verifiable, you
may even be published. This is also the case with photographers who have pictures of important events. It really
means anyone can become a part of the action as a freelance consultant. Some News on-line have "witness" sections
where you can tell your story if you happen to have been in the right place at the right time. This option means that
we can hear many different views on contentious issues giving a wider perspective to the ‘big picture’.
Some News sites also have interactive sites within. For example, on the BBC News Blog there is a learning site (BBCi
Learning) that involves interactive activities and over half a million pages of factual information and resources
available for children, adolescents, and adults. There are competitions and all sorts of games to help educate people
in any and every area of interest imaginable.
Another great aspect of these on-line News sites is the ability to access archival information. You can watch video
and listen to audio recordings of famous historical stories right on the computer. If the day is Feb.3, you can read
articles from Feb.3’s from fifty years ago. Looking up any date and year recorded is as easy as pushing a few buttons.
Some services have subscriptions where instead of looking up the website, the News you want is sent straight to your
email. Being in the know, and being in the now, has never been such an objective, enjoyable, and simplistic
experience as in the 21st century. Partaking in a new perspective on life is what on-line current events and News
Blogs are all about.

How to Do Effective Email Marketing
by
tecHead
on Mon 28 Nov 2005 12:56 PM EST
Jeremy Hoover
Recently, there has been a lot written about email and its (impending) death. From what you read on forum boards and in newsletters from well-known internet marketers, email marketing is dead. Too many ISPs are taking it upon themselves to limit the number of emails you can send at one time, or are blocking your emails from even getting to your subscribers’s inboxes.
As a way around this, many marketers are telling you to get a blog and an RSS feed. This makes good sense, and there is some indication that RSS and related technology will become more popular in the near future, but before you invest in an ebook or multimedia course from a marketer, ask yourself if that marketer has a vested interest in moving you over to an RSS system (i.e., they conveniently sell an RSS starter kit, or affiliate for someone who does).
On the contrary, though, email marketing is not dead. Recently, on a membership-only forum, discussion centred on how Getresponse and Aweber have improved their open and deliverability rates for emails, even as high as 85% for deliverability.
